Three Borders Landmark

The Three Borders Landmark reopens on August 4. The date was announced by the executive director of Grupo Cataratas, Adélio Demeterko.

One of the main tourist attractions in the region, the Three Borders Landmark will reopen for visitation on August 4. The announcement was made by the executive director of Grupo Cataratas, Adélio Demeterko, during a live session about the resumption of tourism in Foz do Iguaçu, on Tuesday the 28th.

The space suspended public operations on July 1, following measures to combat covid-19. A decree from the mayor’s office on the 22nd authorized the resumption of activities. To welcome residents and tourists, the Three Borders Landmark has adopted sanitary safety protocols.

The attraction will conduct individual access control for all visitors, including temperature checks and hand sanitizer use. Access points will have sanitizing mats, and staff will provide guidance and monitoring. In addition to mandatory mask-wearing, the number of visitors will be limited.

“We already have authorization from the mayor’s office and are finalizing our planning for this safe return of visitation at the Three Borders Landmark,” said Adélio. “Our goal is to contribute not only to tourism but to the entire city of Foz do Iguaçu in overcoming this moment,” he emphasized.

The attraction will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, starting at 5 PM, allowing visitors to have direct contact with nature and stroll in the open-air square, which offers views of the confluence of the Paraná and Iguaçu rivers and the sunset at the border.

Visitation at the Three Borders Landmark includes: – Food plaza, featuring a menu that includes tapioca, shawarma, churros, hot dogs, popcorn, coffee, and draft beer;

– Outdoor cultural presentations, with marked distancing on the ground of the plaza; and

– Cultural maze.

The children’s playground, Restaurante Cabeza, and Memorial Cabeza de Vaca will remain closed.

Community Access
Residents of Foz do Iguaçu have free access to visit the Three Borders Landmark, simply presenting an ID and proof of residency in the city. Registration is digital and valid for one year. Registration and ticket pickup for locals are done at the ticket office in the Visitor Center.

New Investments
According to Adélio Demeterko, the management of Grupo Cataratas, responsible for operating the Three Borders Landmark, has submitted a revitalization project for the Espaço das Américas to the city hall. Located on the banks of the Iguaçu River, this facility has been inactive for several years.

The goal, the manager revealed, is to undertake a complete revitalization of the space, which includes the implementation of access. “It’s a comprehensive recovery of the Espaço das Américas, so that it can attract even more visitors to the Three Borders Landmark,” he emphasized.

The expectation is to start the works this year. “This will help strengthen tourism in Iguaçu in the near future. Grupo Cataratas was born in Foz do Iguaçu, so we understand the importance of this reinvestment to help the city in its economic recovery,” he pointed out.
