The long holiday brought tourists back to Foz do Iguaçu. After a pause caused by the pandemic, activity is starting to gain momentum. Considered a thermometer of tourism for receiving the highest number of visitors among the city’s destinations, the Iguaçu National Park attracted 7,289 people between Saturday and Monday, of which 7,255 were Brazilians.
Of this total, only 1,634 are residents of the municipalities bordering the park, indicating that most tourists came from other states or cities farther away from Foz. With the international bridges closed, the number of foreign visitors was limited to 34.
The demand for tickets at the park was so high that they sold out on Sunday. Reservations were limited to 2,800 tickets per day to maintain sanitary safety.
Tourists also visited the Marco das 3 Fronteiras, the Itaipu Complex, Dreams Park Show, and the Bird Park.
At Itaipu Binacional, between Friday the 4th and Sunday the 6th, the attractions of the Tourist Complex received 2,500 visitors. On Sunday alone, there were 1,515.
The Marco das 3 Fronteiras, at the confluence of the Paraná and Iguaçu rivers, welcomed 2,692 tourists from Saturday to Monday. Of these, 686 are residents of the city, 1,985 reside in other parts of Brazil, and 21 are foreigners.
At the Bird Park, 4,105 people visited between Friday and Sunday, with 20% of them coming from Foz do Iguaçu and nearby municipalities to the Iguaçu National Park.
The average hotel occupancy during the holiday was 30%.
